I have been teaching both English Language and Literature for over 40 years in both colleges and schools in the Manchester area.

I work as a private tutor for students of all ages and abilities and have enjoyed watching them gain great results and university places. I particularly enjoy working with students for whom English is a second or other language.

I have taught in secondary school English departments for over 40 years. I worked at Sale Grammar School teaching from Year 7 to A level for 5 years and at both Stockport and Salford City Colleges’ Sixth Form Departments delivering A level English Language, Literature, Communication Studies, Film and Media Studies. I have taught adult classes to those learning English as a foreign or other language and tutored younger students for their Grammar School Entrance Exams locally (11+).

Many students are quite able but lack confidence. Sometimes all they need is the one-to-one guidance my service provides. I will stretch them and make no apology for expecting a firm commitment from them to try their best.
