English was never my strong suit. Teachers at school predicted me as low as Cs for my GCSEs in language and literature, significantly lower than required to study medicine (what I wanted to study). Enter Ms Anne Scott, who worked a miracle pulling my grades up to two As! I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her help.

My son is aged 16 years and has just completed his GCSE exams. He has complex needs and has struggled with all aspects of school. When he decided to choose Media Studies as a subject, his Head Teacher turned and said to both of us, “I don’t think Media Studies is for you. It is very difficult.” Well, my son had his mind made up and struggled through. I asked Anne if she could tutor him in both Media Studies and English.

When Anne arrived at our house and I watched (briefly) and couldn’t believe what I saw. My son was completely engaged and interested. Anne’s enthusiasm for her work is contagious. After she left my son was a different boy, very confident and felt he could understand the subjects and do well. She could get things from him that I never have been able to. He was talking about lessons in school, what he remembered, what his strengths are, what he struggles with, etc.

We have not had the results of the exams, but in the mock exams my son obtained a B in Media Studies and 2 As in English.  This is a phenomenal achievement for him and I know it would have been a different story if Anne had not tutored him.

I cannot thank her enough for the work she has done with him. She made him believe he could do it and gave him the skills to do it.
